Dr L. Errol Cort

Dr L. Errol Cort is an Antiguan citizen by birth. He has had a long and distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. He served as the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs in the Government of Antigua and Barbuda from 1999 to 2001. He was the Minister of Finance and the Economy from 2004 to 2009 and the Minister of National Security & Labour from 2009 to 2014.
Dr Cort was instrumental in spearheading wide ranging reforms to the Election Laws, Tax Laws, and Passport and Immigration Laws of Antigua and Barbuda.
Dr Cort was educated at the University of Oxford, England where he obtained a bachelor’s degree (with honours) and a master’s degree in law. He also holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in Economics from Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada and a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Business (with honours) from St. Mary’s University, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Dr Cort is a Barrister of the Honourable Society of Middle Temple, London, England and a Barrister and Solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
Dr Cort started the Cort Law Firm in Antigua in 1991 and, after his stint in government, he returned to private practice in June 2014. He is Head of Chambers at the Cort Law Firm.
